According to Gjon is Gjon’s nativity crib. Gjon is not one of the apostles. 90 years old Gjon is my uncle. We live nearby. In preparation for Christmas, like many others, he built in his yard this scene, which evokes the birth of the Savior. The sacred and profane elements blended together are merely a “paraphernalia” of a long time, alone.
Lek M. Gjeloshi (1987, AL) is an Albanian artist who lives and works in Shkodër, Albania. His multimedia practice explores the effects of alienation in spaces of limbo. His works have been shown in several solo exhibitions and in various institutions including Manifesta 14, Villa Romana, École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina, Kunsthalle West, Bazament Art Space, Autostrada Biennale, Manifattura Tabacchi, Galeria Zeta, National Gallery of Art in Albania and Public Art Gallery in Shkodër, among others. In 2018 he was artist-in-residence at the Unlimited Residency in New York.
