A man and a woman are having a romantic dinner at a restaurant. Suddenly the skin on the man’s face begins to fall off. The Lovers is a stop motion relationship horror and unromantic comedy about a couple forced to deal with escalating bodily transformations.
Carolina Sandvik (b. 1988 in Avesta, Sweden) is an artist and filmmaker. She lives and works in Malmö, and received a Master in Fine Arts from Malmö Art Academy 2019. Her stop motion animated short films have been shown in galleries in Sweden and screened at festivals such as South by Southwest, Sitges Fantastic Film Festivals and Tallinn Black Nights. “Dreams from the Ocean” (2018) was nominated for and “The Expected” (2021) won the Best Swedish Short Dragon Award at Göteborg Film Festival. The Lovers (2023) won Best Short Comedy Pitch at Torino Short Film Market
