STAYING WITH THE TROUBLE

The film is a short hybrid documentary. It follows a Kazakh berkutchi (eagle-hunter) on his journey to tame the wild eagle, Sadak. Through the unique bond between the hunter and the eagle, the film offers a thought-provoking exploration of power relations that exist in a world torn between security crises and an insatiable hunger for hyper-connectivity.

Alyona Larionova

Alyona Larionova is a multidisciplinary artist and filmmmaker. She uses a range of media including moving image, sound, and installation to create immersive experiences and community projects that echo a deep concern for the environment and social change. Recently, her research has focused on exploring decolonial and feminist perspectives within the realms of science and ecology.

Over the past seven years, she has developped intricate and complex works alongside numerous collaborators. In ‘Across Lips’ (2016), she staged the performance of a renowned jazz drummer at the Internet Archive (San Francisco). In 2021, she was awarded Arts Council England grant for her debut audio-play ‘Pioneers’ (2022).
