The story of Vittoria, a Catholic woman, as told through her secret diary from 1934 to 1943, revealing her inner struggles as she faces difficulty being intimate with her husband and fulfilling what she sees as her “duty as a bride”. The film explores her personal journey, touching on themes of individual conflict and societal expectations.

Claudio Giovannesi

Claudio Giovannesi (b. 1978) is an Italian director, screenwriter, and composer. He graduated in Modern Letters from Sapienza University of Rome and in Film Directing from the Experimental Film Centre. In 2008, he debuted with “La casa sulle nuvole,” showcased at the Brussels Film Festival. His second film, “Alì ha gli occhi azzurri” (2012), earned him the Special Jury Prize and Best First and Second Feature Award at the Rome Film Festival. “Fiore” (2016) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight. Giovannesi’s fourth feature film, “Piranhas” (2019), adapted from Roberto Saviano’s novel, competed at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, winning the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay and receiving critical acclaim.
