Where did we learn the songs we know? Is there a link between what we sing and what binds us to the place, to others? Can we create a geographical and emotional map of what we sing together? A song becomes a place to explore the memory of Italy.

Alice Rohrwacher

Alice Rohrwacher (1982, Italy) was born in Tuscany. She studied Literature and Philosophy, specialising in scriptwriting, at the University of Turin. Her feature debut Corpo celeste (2011) was the opening film at Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. In Rohrwacher’s second feature, Le meraviglie/The Wonders (2014), her sister Alba Rohrwacher plays a leading role and the film won the Grand Prix at Cannes. In 2018  Lazzaro felice/Happy as Lazzaro was nominated for a Golden Palm and won the Best Screenplay award, at Cannes, as well as Best Feature at film festivals in Jerusalem and Chicago. In 2019, Rohrwacher was invited to join the jury for Cannes Film Festival. La chimera (2023) had its world premiere in Cannes, was selected to compete for the Golden Palm
